My name is Jenn, and I’m the amazingly awesome creator of Shelf-Righteous. Somehow, I’m in my late twenties – not really sure when that happened. I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, but am now a super-happy occupant of the Portland, Oregon area. I hate hot weather, humidity, ignorance, and seafood and am very liberal, so I don’t really know how I managed to last in South Carolina for twenty six years of my life.

My husband (Brian) literally checked me out at the grocery store about seven years ago, and we’ve been together ever since. We got married in November of 2013. We have a serious love of Netflix binge-ing, gaming, and traveling together. He has a tendency to hoard video games and tech items, so I don’t feel too bad for being such a ginormous book hoarder 🙂

We have three beautiful pet children together. Maid Marian is our rambunctious black lab who is addicted to balls and food. She’s allergic to just about everything, but we love her spunky self anyways. Miss Kitty Fantastico (aka Mishka) is our adorable tiny-headed cat. She’s “sassy” and is so freaking weird, it’s adorable. She frequents arm crooks and is prone to making bird noises. We just got a new kitten and named him Rumble Pak due to his constant purring/rumbling 🙂 I don’t have a picture of him up yet, but I’ve got some on my instagram.

Anyway… I love academia! I have an A.B. in History and a B.S. in Anthropology from the College of Charleston, and my Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. I want more degrees under my belt, so I hope to go back to school eventually! That MLIS grants me the “Librarian” title, which I heartily accept as my current occupation.

I am a die hard Carolina Panthers fan, and football season is one of my favorite times of year. I also have a lifelong love of video and computer games. I have a tendency to be more into 4x strategy games and RPGs but have strayed far and wide from those categories. I played WoW for years, but quit that bad habit at the end of 2016. I have a tendency to re-pick up any version of the Civilization games constantly, as can be seen by the hundreds of hours that I’ve logged on it via Steam.

So for the fun parts… I’ve had a lot of medical issues throughout my life. I’ve currently been diagnosed with the following: Fibromyalgia, Sleep Apnea, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Major Depression, Social Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD. I also have a non-functioning series of pituitary adenomas (as in, they’re just sitting there doing nothing… right now). The medical stuff has pretty much ruled my life over the past decade or so. Therapy and medications can only do so much – the other stuff has to be done by me. So one of the reasons I’m doing this blog thing is so that I can talk about my issues and likes. I’ve also made the “low-carb” lifestyle change in the recent months (it’s supposed to help with a lot of things) and have a tendency to post a lot of food pictures on my facebook and instagrams. Blogging the recipes may increase my interest in making food too!

Obviously, there’s a lot more about me, but I’ve already given you a big handful. You can always read my blog to get bigger blips into my life, of course.
